Fortunate Restaurant at Toa Payoh Central was filled to the brim with 81 tables of well-wishers.
Before entering the restaurant, crowds queued up to pen birthday wishes and words of appreciation in the autograph book.
Dinner started with the Singaporean tradition of "Yam Seng", followed by presentation of momentos to the birthday boy by the various church groups.
There was also a live band that entertained the guests with their rendition of oldies in English, Mandarin, Hokkien, Malay and Tamil.
The French community also went on stage to perform a couple of songs.
It was obvious that everyone was having fun, as they sang, clap and danced along.
The organising committee also auctioned off 2 bottles of wine -- which got all the guests participating in excitement.
The auction raised $2,100, which would be donated to the poor.
Asked about how he felt, the humble priest said it was a difficult question for a priest to answer because priests are meant to serve the people.
Illustrating the point, he said his emotions went through a roller coaster ride that day.
He had heard confessions in the morning, in the afternoon he said prayers for a 38-year-old man who died (just before the baptism of his baby) and later at sunset, was having a birthday celebration!
This man who has offered his life to God, also said he did not have any birthday wishes.
As the night came to an end, groups of well-wishers surrounded Fr Loiseau, wanting to shake the hands of their beloved priest.
He was truly the super star of the night!
