Church of the Risen Christ held its 34th annual Feast of Our Lady of Velankanni from 6 Sept 2006 to 9 Sept 2006.

The congregation consisted of people, both young and old, from all walks of life. Father Victor Francis, from St. Francis Xavier Church in Thanjavur, South India, was the main celebrant for the event.

Organised by the Indian Catholic Committee (ICM) of the Church, different aspects of the main theme 'Children of God, Children of Love' was chosen for each of the four days.

The homilies of Father Francis, sprinkled with anecdotes from his personal experiences, were refreshing and enlightening.

On the third day, Friday 8 Sept 2006, the Mass was followed by benediction and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. It was also traditionally the Mass for the healing of the sick as Our Lady of Velankanni is also known as Our Lady of Good Health.

The fourth day, Saturday, 9 Sept 2006, was the grand finale as the church was packed to the capacity as the congregation included those who could not make it for the preceding three days.

Michael, 38, a parishioner from Hougang, said that his mum brought him to this Feast ever since he was a toddler. He said that Our Lady of Velankanni has greatly blessed both his family and him.
