In the month of August 2007, parishioners of Church of the Risen Christ
saw new postings for the associate priests serving them.
The outgoing priest, Fr Adrian Yeo was scheduled for sabbatical leave
in order to further his studies overseas. He celebrated all the masses
during the weekend of 11 & 12 August. He took the opportunity
to thank parishioners for their support and introduced the incoming
priest Fr
Valerian Cheong (also known as “Fr Val”),
from Church of the Holy Cross in Clementi.
After the Sunday 11am mass, a large number of the congregation
assembled at the parish hall to celebrate the occasion. After the
opening grace by Fr Val, they tucked in to the refreshments. They
chatted with Fr Val and conveyed their best wishes and good byes to Fr
Yeo.
Fr Adrian Yeo described his stay at Church of the Risen Christ,
“It was good 5 years; meeting people and making friends. I
had a very enjoyable time and a fruitful ministry. It was good to see
things move and grow.” His most memorable experience here was
the first Lay Apostolate Sunday celebrated at HDB Hub in the year 2004.
It was the first time he saw everyone enjoying themselves. There
weren’t any large scale event carried out before for members
of the ministries.
Are there any final words he would like to say to parishioners?
Fr Yeo replied “Thank you for everything!”
Fr Adrian Yeo leaves for Canada at end of August to pursue his Masters
in Canon Law at University of St Paul in Ottawa. The course will
commence 6 Sept 2007 and end in June, 2009. We wish Fr Adrian Yeo Bon
Voyage and a Happy Sabbatical. May the Lord continue to bless
and guide him. We will surely miss him and wish to thank him
