Being attune to God
If your car is not working well and the engine needs to be replaced, it is best to get one of the same make. An engine of another brand may look the same (and might even be a bit cheaper!), but later the car may not function properly because of incompatibility of the parts. In the same way, we were made for God. When our body, mind and spirit operate by the same spirit of God, we will not only bear much fruit, but more importantly the right fruit. St Paul was a man of considerable talents but his spirit was disordered, and he used his zeal and his oratory skills to persecute the Christians. After his conversion, however, he was back in tune with God and he started serving God and the Church. Whereas in the past Paul bore much bad fruit, now operating in the Spirit, he bore much good fruit. As Jesus himself has said: "Remain in me, as I in you. As a branch cannot bear fruit all by itself, unless it remains part of the vine, neither can you unless you remain in me."
