Proclaim God’s Mercy
The first reading showed one of many incidents in which God forgave His people whom He had brought out of Egypt. Despite His anger at their perverse act of turning away from Him and worshipping false idols, God once again was merciful to the Israelites upon Moses’ plea to Him to forgive.

In the second reading, we see St Paul’s awareness of his utter sinfulness and God’s infinite mercy. He praised and thanked God for His grace in forgiving him and judging him faithful and appointing him to His service.

The three parables in the gospel highlight an important message – joy in heaven over a repentant sinner. God in His tender love and compassion would do just about anything to bring back someone who is lost. Even though we do not merit or deserve God’s grace by our action, He welcomes us back with joy no matter how deeply we have sunk into sin.

Let us then, the forgiven sinners, go out and proclaim God’s mercy and invite other sinners to come and receive His forgiveness and return to true freedom and happiness.
