Commemorate The Year Of The Lord’s Favour
Post date: Dec 13, 2014 7:39:35 AM
In the first reading of Isaiah, we hear the words of our Lord Jesus (Luke 14:18-19) who was sent by God His Father for the salvation of mankind. Jesus brought the good news regarding the approach of the eternal kingdom for through Him the kingdom of God was about to be instituted on earth and in heaven. Proclaiming the year of the Lord’s favour in which His plan and purpose is accomplished, we should all rejoice in the Lord. This is emphasized by St Paul in today’s second reading where we are told to always rejoice, to pray without ceasing and to give thanks to God in all circumstances according to His will. In the gospel reading, we see that God had sent John the Baptist as a witness to announce the coming of the light found in Jesus Christ. As commanded through the words of the prophet Isaiah, through St Paul and through John the Baptist, let us prepare ourselves to commemorate with great joy the year of the Lord’s favour on Christmas Day.
