Do all you can

27th Sunday in Ordinary Time
We are already in the year 2016, and yet, why are we still not better, more faithful, more loving? Have we not had thousand of years of learning and wisdom? Why is there still so much pain & suffering just like in the time of the prophet Habakkuk? Shouldn’t we be more ready to take on hardship by now, in obeying God’s commands, patiently and without question? Our time is now, not in the next decade nor the next century. God has given us special gifts, the spirit of “power and love and self-control”. Pave our way towards the Kingdom of God by making a difference in this lifetime, starting with those closest to us. Charity begins at home. Love thy neighbour as thyself. What is the point of making trips to far away places, when we do not live our faith by showing our care and concern to those living in our own backyard? Let us not get distracted by voices that may lead us off course, but guard the word of God so it may be the beacon to lead us to do all we can.
