Our loving and merciful God has compassion for His people. In the first reading, we see the compassion and patience of God who does not wish for anyone to perish because of their disobedience to His righteousness. He tolerated with patience the sins of His people and sent many messengers so that they would turn away from sin. Even though the wrath of God struck the people, God did not abandon them for they eventually returned to the holy city of Jerusalem to rebuild the Temple. The second reading shows the richness of God’s mercy. While mankind was dead through its sins, God gave them life through Christ. By God’s grace, those who believe have been saved. The gospel reading emphasizes that God sent His Son that the world might be saved through Him. Jesus came to show us the way, the truth and the life so that we may walk in the light. God has compassion for His people and does not want any of us to be lost. Let us sincerely repent from our sins for our salvation and eternal happiness.
