Good Shepherd Sunday

Are we the good shepherd or the hireling? Do we serve God only when it’s comfortable and beneficial, or do we put our heart soul into whatever we have undertaken, be it joining a ministry or forming friendships or small communities. Do we quit or do we persevere and keep trying? Jesus received God’s command to lay down His life for His sheep, so have we been told to die to ourselves so that we could rise again as God’s followers and to lead His people as shepherds to the flock. St Peter tells us that being a follower of Christ means potential prosecution and rejection. Then St John confirms this is so because “the world does not know us” as “it did not know Him.” However, if we truly believe that there is “no salvation through anyone else” but through Jesus, should we not desperately want our friends and family to know about Jesus? So let us pray for God’s grace to give us the courage to willingly and wholeheartedly to help each other take up our role as the good shepherd.
