Heaven : Our Glorious Future

Death is not the end rather it is passing through the night into the light of day where our souls will live in union with God and the saints forever. The Resurrection empowers us to boldly live as God’s beloved sons and daughters. This is clearly illustrated in the Acts of the Apostles with St Peter’s bold and courageous witness to the mystery of the Resurrection after his denial and betrayal. The lives of the apostles clearly transformed from their previous experience of tragedy and despondency, now they boldly proclaim Christ. Our life’s purpose has only one goal, to get to heaven. We have a bright and glorious future ahead as summed up by St Paul’s letter to the Colossians. Our resurrected bodies would be revealed in glory with God and all the saints. St John’s Gospel and the other gospels have one thing in common - the stone rolled away at the tomb. If we are an Easter people, we should roll the stones from our tombs away. God is calling us towards a glorious future in heaven. Let us pray for the grace to move towards that goal.
