Is Jesus Christ Our God, Saviour And King ?

In the book of Samuel, the leaders of Israel anointed David as their king. Their confidence in David stems from God’s promise to David that he’ll be the ruler of Israel and his military track record. St Paul reminds us to be thankful for the salvation that is available through Christ’s sacrificial death on the cross. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, he also writes about the divine nature and Kingship of Christ over all powers in the universe. How confident are we of Jesus Christ as our God, Saviour and King? The repentant thief in today’s gospel encourages us to ponder who Jesus really means to us. In the last few hours on the cross alongside our Lord, the thief had in the end decided that Jesus was the Holy One of God, innocent, a King and worthy of his trust. The humble request of the repentant thief to Jesus should also be ours. And our assurance should also rest on Christ’s response of love and forgiveness as well. As only God can forgive sins and no one with sin can enter Paradise.
