Just Listen Quietly To His Word

Another famous story in the bible, Martha & Mary, two sisters doing the complete opposite. Martha, busy with the doing, or perhaps overdoing, while Mary has chosen to do “the better part”.Are we prone to be like Martha, engrossed in the doing, when perhaps the better thing to do would have been to sit and listen with our hearts and mind, giving the other person we wish to serve our full attention, rather than be distracted with the tasks. Perhaps it’s because it’s easier to measure the doing, it’s quantifiable afterall.
It’s so much more complex to measure how much we’ve really listened and heard another.
Isn’t it easier to just send our children to the myriads of tuition centres, buy them assessment books after assessment books,
versus sitting down with them to truly understand what’s happening in their life everyday?
How often do we sit at our children’s feet and listen to them?
We run around from one ministry to the next, but how much time have we spent praying and listening quietly to what Jesus wants us to hear?
