12 October 2014 ( 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time )
Despite the challenges of our daily lives, the crosses that we bear, and the trials we seem regularly encounter, God’s plan is to take us ALL to his Kingdom, where there will be fellowship of all peoples in peace, unity and joy with God. Isaiah gives us a vision of what this would be like. Who would not be excited at this vision, where there is no pain, hunger, tears of despair nor loneliness? All are welcome to attain this paradise, by being willing and ready to follow God’s call, which could happen at any point in our lives. We need to be attuned to His call, to follow where He leads us. God invites us to get caught up with His desire for our humanity and work with Him to wipe away the tears of the lonely and the abandoned, to take away the shame of those who believe they have gone on a path of no-return, to shelter the homeless and to open our hearts to love all unconditionally. These are the layers God wants us to wear to His banquet.
