28th Sunday in Ordinary Time
The disease leprosy is now curable. However, the spirit of it is still very deadly, looking at the way we alienate people just because they look different, sound different, having different values. Who amongst us can truly say we have stood up for the weaker, helped those who can’t help themselves any longer. Jesus went out of his way to show us that we have to go to the borders, beyond our comfort zone, to stand by those marginalized and shunned by society. Do we work on cleansing ourselves, so that we can persevere, and also reign with Him amidst the desperation and despair? Do we find it difficult to realize that we need to continuously and humbly purify ourselves? Let us find ways to help one another on this challenging path. It would be a true sign that we are close to the gates of heaven when we hear the Lord tell us to proceed as our faith has healed us.
