10 January 2016 ( The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord )

[Isaiah 40:1-5,9-11] [Timothy 2:11-14; 3:4-7] [Luke 3:15-16,21-22]

It’s really time to take up our Christian calling to follow the Lord in His footsteps. What else are we waiting for? Did Jesus hesitate and say, “Wait, I want to make my carpentry business a success first so that my family is taken care of?” He followed God’s plan without hesitation. Our own baptism infused us with the Holy Spirit to mark our adoption into God’s family, should we not follow what Jesus did upon his baptism and be upright also? To fulfill all righteousness, to bring justice to all and not just the few we know, but to strangers, the weakest and most vulnerable in our community. Renew our baptismal promises, and take up our place as heirs to His kingdom, heirs to eternal life.

Be eager to do what is good, turn ourselves and others away from lawlessness, be the example that Isaiah had proclaimed,

to release those bound by their fears and vices, be the light that removes the blindness we use to shield us from the unfamiliar, so as to see what God wants for us.
