27 April 2014 (2nd Sunday of Easter, Divine Mercy Sunday)

[Acts 2:42-47] [1 Peter 1:3-9] [John 20:19-31]

God gave Thomas the assurance he needed, just as God gives us the assurance that He loves and cares for us despite knowing how selfish and unfaithful we could become. How much more merciful do we need our God to be? Today we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday, reminding us to fully trust in God’s mercy, as our beloved Holy Fathers Saints John XXIII and John Paul II who are canonized today, had role modeled for us how they entrusted their lives to God. Let us act on our belief when we say we trust God. Make this trust come alive daily by continuously making the effort to love as Jesus commanded us to do, a total commitment to God’s teachings to be merciful to others. Pray to God constantly, to repent of our sins as well as forgiving others, as God has been merciful and forgiving. Have complete trust in Him, to let Him be our God, and allow Him to write the story of our lives, to fill our days with grace so that we can live according to His will.
