Sanctify our temples

In today’s three readings, we are provided with a message as to how we should prepare ourselves during the season of Lent. The first reading contains the Ten Commandments which help us to review and ask ourselves whether we are obeying God’s divine will and whether we are living a holy life. In the second reading, St Paul tells us that the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing but the power of God for those who are saved. The message of the cross is the message of love summarized in the two commandments i.e. love God and love your neighbours as you would like them to love you. In the gospel, Jesus spoke about the glorious resurrection of His Body, “Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.” We are the temples of the indwelling Holy Spirit. In this Lenten season, let us clean our temples of our habits, our vices, our sins, all that are unrighteous and offensive to the Lord God. Let us ask for the power of the Holy Spirit to sanctify our temples for the glory of God.
