Shepherd My People

19 July 2015 (16th Sunday in Ordinary Time)

[Jeremiah 23:1-6] [Ephesians 2:13-18] [Mark 6:30-34]

Jesus gathered his returning disciples and led them to rest.We must always remember to rest, not just in body, mind and spirit.

It is an important way to renew and recharge, so that we can continue to serve God well.

Before we put on the oxygen mask on our loved ones, we must put it on ourselves first, with the right resources (rest and prayer), we can then help others.

We are called to shepherd God’s people, hence we must be well prepared for this not just spiritually but physically, emotionally and mentally.

If we are to be shepherds, we need to know the safer paths to take, be more aware about the potential dangers, and the pitfalls for ourselves and others,

lest we end up scattering and driving His sheep away.

This ability would not come overnight, so our patience and dedication would be important. Pray that we will be just as “moved” and sensitive to the needs of people God sends our way, filled with compassion and understanding so that we can serve our community and fulfill our mission.
