The two shall become one

“What God has joined together, no human being must separate” (Mk 10:9).

We have heard this so often, yet, many husband and wives do get divorced, separated, broken.

God had created a special part for man, not just any companion, but a true partner.

A joining in marriage as a reflection of God’s love for His people, a love that never fails, which grants the gift of life.

Does this not mean a marriage is a challenge for us to be like God?

He continues to love us even when we are unfaithful. He does not abandon his affection for us because he loves someone else.

God’s love never fails, as shown by His ultimate sacrifice for us on the cross. Sacrifice is necessary for a marriage to grow and strengthen in its bond.

As love can make sacrifices possible, love that is derived from Jesus, love that would allow us to be more understanding, patient and kind,

never jealous nor boastful but always ready to make allowances, trust, hope and endure whatever comes
