Turn to Jesus in faith

12th Sunday in Ordinary Time
In the first reading, God is revealed as being in full control of creation as He affirmed His superiority over the sea. Job therefore should have no reason to experience doubts of God despite his afflictions but to remain trusting in Him. The second reading emphasizes the call for us to live in faith as a new creation not for ourselves but for Christ because we are convinced that Christ gave up His precious life for us out of love. The gospel today highlights the disciples’ fear and lack of faith in the storm. The faith of the disciples was tested on their journey towards discipleship and sanctification. Jesus manifested His divine power over nature in calming the wind and sea. Whenever we struggle against what appear to be insurmountable obstacles in our lives, let us never lose confidence but keep our eyes on God who alone can deliver us. If our boat of life is in danger of shipwreck, let us remember to turn to Jesus in faith knowing that the boat can never sink when He is in it.
