Formed in 2024, our name comes from chapter 9 of John's Gospel, where Jesus performed a miracle and healed the sight of a man who was blind from birth. 'Siloam' comes from the Hebrew word Shiloach, meaning 'sent'. Encountering God's love and being healed, we are sent out as missionaries of His love.
Thus, our vision is "That All May See" - that each person may see they are deeply loved by God, who calls them by name, is close to them and never forsakes them. As His disciples here in Siloam, we are encouraged and held accountable to our discipleship journey with the Lord, to live a life that imitates Jesus Christ. Similar to this man who obeyed the words of Jesus, we too, are called to live in faith and obedience to the Him who breathed life into our being. True healing is this healing of spiritual sight that brings about transformation of life.
At World Youth Day 2000, St John Paul II proclaimed, "Do not be afraid to be the saints of the new millennium", reminding us that the goal of our mission and communion should be to help one another get to Heaven. May we courageously walk this path of holiness that is meant for each of us, and to enthrone Jesus Christ in our hearts. Do not be afraid!
